Turkey's daily power consumption up 2.4% on Jan. 14

- Turkey's electricity exports total 7,900 megawatt-hours, while imports amount to 1,638 megawatt-hours on Tuesday

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 2.4% to 871,769 megawatt-hours on Tuesday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Wednesday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 19.00 local time with 41,601 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 29,521 megawatt-hours at 05.00.

Total electricity production reached 878,031 megawatt-hours on Tuesday with a 2.51% increase compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from natural gas plants with 297,336 megawatt-hours.

Imported coal plants and hydroelectricity followed with 209,293 megawatt-hours and 164,487 megawatt-hours, respectively.

On Tuesday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 7,900 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 1,638 megawatt-hours.
