Vestas receives 100 MW order in Argentina

- Turbine delivery is planned for the third quarter of 2017

Danish Vestas received wind turbines order with a capacity of 100 megawatt (MW) in Argentina, the company announced on Tuesday.

Greenwind Energy Company, a subsidiary of Argentinian Pampa Energia placed the order to supply Corti Wind Park in the Bahia Blanca, the southwest of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Turbine delivery is planned for the third quarter of 2017, while commissioning is expected for the second quarter of 2018.

"In 2011, Vestas built Argentina’s largest wind park and we are pleased to see that wind energy is once again growing in the country," Marco Graziano, president of Vestas Mediterranean said in a written statement.

Argentina aims to reach 20 percent of renewable energy by the end of 2025 and recently passed the Argentinian Renewable Energy Law, which requires large electricity consumers to obtain a minimum of eight percent of its power production from renewable sources.

To meet the increasing demand in Argentina, Vestas opened an office in Buenos Aires in 2016 from where it is expanding its customer base in the country.
