Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority, EMRA, announced Friday that it will reward electricity companies with additional 'tariff bonus', in case of no deadly work accident in a year.
EMRA plans to start implementing the 'tariff bonus' in 2016, according to a written statement by the authority.
The authority aims to provide work safety and higher quality of service, with the bonus implementation.
'Work safety is directly related to corporate culture and vision,' said Mustafa Yilmaz, head of EMRA, in the statement. 'We assume that if a company is good at work safety, it will succeed in other fields,' said Yilmaz.
Yilmaz stated that EMRA plans to reduce the electricity shortages by defining quality of service as a factor in the electricity tariffs.
The bonus implementation will regard not only the companies, but also subcontractors of them, according to the statement.
'We also want to contribute to the country socially by promoting companies to operate safely and attentive.' Yilmaz added.
