US oil rig count up by 6 for week ending June 11

- Number of US oil rigs rise by 166 compared to one year ago

The oil rig count in the US rose this week, according to the latest data released by oilfield services company Baker Hughes on Friday.

The number of oil rigs, an indicator of short-term production in the country, increased by 6 to 365 for the week ending June 11 from 359 the previous week.

The number of US oil rigs also rose by 166 compared to one year ago.

At Friday's trading close, the price of international benchmark Brent crude stood at $72.59 per barrel, while American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $70.81 a barrel.
