US oil rig count increase for week ending May 1

- Number of US oil rigs down by 64 compared to one year ago

The number of oil rigs in the US increased by 1 this week, according to the latest data released by oilfield services company Baker Hughes on Friday.

The number of oil rigs, an indicator of short-term production in the country, increased by 1 to 408 for the week ending May 1.

The number of US oil rigs decreased by 64 compared to one year ago.

The price of international benchmark Brent crude stood at $108.17 per barrel at Friday's trading close, down from $108.17 on Thursday.

American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $101.94 a barrel at Friday's close, compared to $105.07 on Thursday.
