Turkey's crude oil imports rose by 48.22% to 2.67 million tonnes in May 2019 compared to the same month of 2018, according to a report released by the country's energy watchdog on Saturday.
The country imported the most crude oil from Russia with 885,738 tonnes in May. Iraq and Iran followed with 757,448 and 390,991 tonnes, respectively, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said.
The country's total import of oil products also increased by 13.76% in May to 3.97 million tonnes compared to May 2018.
The production of oil refinery products increased by 29.26% to 2.85 million tonnes. In addition, diesel and gasoline production was up by 34.27% and 9.98%, reaching nearly 1.07 million tonnes and 409 thousand tonnes, respectively.
In May, total fuel sales fell by 5.05% to 2.50 million tonnes compared to the same month last year.
