TotalEnergies starts production on Mero-1 oil field

- Company plans three additional development phases scheduled between 2023 and 2025

TotalEnergies started production from phase one of Mero field in the Libra block, in the prolific pre-salt area of the Santos Basin, with a production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), company said on Monday.

This first phase will be followed by three additional development phases, with the Mero-2, Mero-3 and Mero-4 floating production, storage and offloading units (FPSO), each with a production capacity of 180,000 bpd and production start-ups scheduled between 2023 and 2025.

'This start-up, along with the entry into Atapu and Sepia fields, will increase TotalEnergies production in the pre-salt Santos Basin by 30,000 barrels per day in the second quarter and by 60,000 barrels per day in the fourth quarter of 2022 to reach 120,000 barrels per day by end of 2022,' said Patrick Pouyanne, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies.

The Mero unitized field is operated by Petrobras with 38.6% share, in partnership with TotalEnergies with 19.3% share.

Additionally, Shell Brasil, China's CNPC, China's CNOOC Limited and Brazil's Pre-Sal Petroleo have share of 19.3%, 9.65%, 9,65% and 3.5% respectively.
