French oil giant TotalEnergies posted a 3% net profit during the first quarter of 2024 despite high oil prices and refining margins, according to its financial results statement released on Friday.
The company earned around $5.7 billion in the first quarter this year, versus $5.6 billion in the same quarter last year.
TotalEnergies had recorded nearly $5.1 billion in profit during the fourth quarter of last year.
The revenue for the January–March period reached $51.8 billion, compared to $58.3 billion for the same quarter of 2023.
The company's fourth-quarter 2023 revenue amounted to $54.7 billion.
