Rosneft to explore oil in Black Sea in 2017

- The company owns four oil and natural gas fields in Black Sea

Russia's biggest oil company Rosneft will start oil exploration studies in the Black Sea in 2017, Rosneft's Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin said on Monday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of new well-drilling at the Khatangsky block in the East Arctic Sea shelf, Sechin noted that Rosneft will also start drilling activities in the Barents Sea next year and in 2019, further drilling activity will take place in the Kara Sea in northern Siberia.

Recently, the company announced its plans to cooperate with Italian Eni for exploration activities in the Black Sea.

Rosneft owns four oil and natural gas fields in the Black Sea and seven in the Barents Sea.
