Libya's NOC discovers new offshore gas field

- Test results show production capacity of 8 million cubic feet of gas per day from surface layerrnrn

Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced a new gas discovery located 140 kilometers from the Libyan capital Tripoli, the company announced Tuesday.

The NOC, together with its partner ENI North Africa Libya (Operator), made a new gas condensate discovery in the Tripoli-Sabratah Basin, offshore Libya, the statement read.

Production test results show that the field's production capacity could be 8 million cubic feet of gas and 800 barrels of condensate per day from the surface layer. The results also demonstrated that the capacity could yield 10 million cubic feet of gas and 760 barrels of condensate per day on the lower layer.

The well was drilled to a water depth of about 150 meters and reached a total depth of 2,981 meters (9,780 feet).

'The discovery exploration Well B1-16/3 is located approximately 140 kilometers from the Libyan capital Tripoli City and 5 kilometers to the north of the producing Bahr Essalam Gas Field,' the statement added.
