Iran increased its oil production by 60% in the last two years as a result of the administrative measures, the semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported on Tuesday, citing the chief executive of the National Iranian Oil company (NIOC).
Mohsen Khojastehmehr pointed to the data of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) which showed that the oil and gas sectors have got a lion's share in the economic growth of the country.
However, Khojastehmehr did not elaborate the figures regarding the production volumes.
Following President Donald Trump's withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018, the US tightened economic sanctions against Iran and imposed several sanctions both the country's oil exports and economic activities.
The Iranian oil ministry reported that in April 2018, before the US withdrew from the nuclear agreement, Tehran produced 3.8 million barrels of crude oil and condensate per day, of which 2.8 million were exported.
