Framatome to supply EDF enriched reprocessed uranium

- Framatome will supply EDF with enriched reprocessed uranium fuel assemblies

French and Japanese joint venture nuclear company, Framatome will design, fabricate and supply French energy company EDF with fuel assemblies using enriched reprocessed uranium over the period 2023 to 2032, according to Framatome on Wednesday.

The company said these fuel assemblies, which will be destined for a number of nuclear reactors – belonging to EDF's operating fleet, would be manufactured at Framatome's plant in Romans-sur-Isere in Drome, France.

'This contract is proof of the quality of Framatome's industrial solutions and capabilities, and underlines the scope of the products and services offered by the company to its electric utility customers,' Lionel Gaiffe, senior executive vice president of Framatome's fuel business unit was quoted as saying.

According to the company, the Framatome fuel business unit develops, designs, licenses and fabricates fuel assemblies and associated services for its electric utility customers in France and internationally.

The EDF Group has a majority stake of 75.5 percent in Framatome, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries holds a 19.5 percent share while the remaining 5 percent share belongs to Assystem.
