Akkuyu nuclear plant employees receive 'Rosatom Person of the Year' awards

- Annual competition takes place among 330,000 employees of nuclear industry companies

Specialists from Türkiye’s first nuclear power plant, the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in southern Türkiye, received several accolades under 'Rosatom Person of the Year' awards among the 330,000 nuclear sector employee participants.

While Akkuyu NPP employees were represented in several competitive categories, Maxim Ryblov, the head of the Heat Installation Department of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, won the 'NPP Construction Engineer' award.

He gained first place through his proposal to combine the first power unit’s construction with the installation of the reactor’s main equipment components using the unique open-top construction method, which allowed a reduction in the construction time of the power unit by 52 days.

A chemical specialist, Emre Can, took second place, followed by the Head of the Construction Organization Department, Denis Radchenko, who was nominated in third place.

The Head of the Business Process Methodology and Automation Department of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, Alexander Kravchenko, took second place in the individual nomination 'Digital Solution.' He developed and implemented an information system to automate the company's financial processes in accordance with Turkish standards, reducing labor costs by 30% while preparing monthly accounts.

The Akkuyu Nuclear team and REIN JSC, the management company of the Akkuyu NPP project, took third place in the competitive category 'Sustainable Development' for the Gulnar Life project in support of a social welfare scheme in the neighboring region to the plant in Gulnar.

The premiere of the documentary film 'This is Us,' dedicated to the Akkuyu NPP, Russian Rosatom's flagship project abroad, was held on the eve of the ceremony.

Akkuyu nuclear specialists and winners of past competitions took part in the filming, which was organized at the plant’s construction site.

Anastasia Zoteeva, chief executive officer of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, hailed the awards as an important acknowledgement of achievements and in recognition of the joint work and knowledge sharing between Russian nuclear scientists and Turkish engineers.

'I am very glad to know that our team does not stop at its achievements but improves technologies and work processes. It allows specialists to develop themselves together with the project and create a new industry in Türkiye,' she said.
