Vestas secures 50 MW wind farm deal in Finland

- Danish company to deliver wind energy solution for subsidy-free project by CPC Germania

Vestas secured an order from CPC Germania for the 50-megawatt (MW) subsidy-free Lakiakangas II wind park in Finland, the Danish wind giant announced Thursday.

'Located in Isojoki in the Southern Ostrobothnia region of Finland, Vestas has together with CPC Germania developed a wind energy solution tailored to the site's specific wind conditions that features 12 V150-4.2 MW turbines with a 135-meter hub height, which optimize annual energy production and offer the lowest cost of energy,' a statement read.

According to the press release, CPC Germania signed a long-term power purchase agreement with a third party that enables the Lakiakangas II wind park to be financed without any state subsidies.

The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

The project will feature the VestasOnline Business SCADA solution to lower turbine downtime and optimize the energy output, the statement added. Turbine delivery is scheduled for the first half of 2019.

CPC Germania is a wind energy company based in Rheine, northwestern Germany. According to their website, the company is active in wind energy projects in nine European countries, Turkey and the U.S. with an installed capacity of around 54.6 gigawatts as of 2016, corresponding to about 17,000 large turbines.
