Vestas receives 172 MW wind farm order from Brazil

- Vestas receives its first 2016 order from Brazil for turbines for six wind farms

Danish Vestas received 172 megawatt wind farm order in Brazil, the company announced late on Monday.

The company said the orders are the first Vestas has announced in Brazil in 2016 and consists of turbine supplies for six wind farms.

Vestas will supply 86 units of 2 megawatt turbines for projects totaling 172 megawatt located in the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil.

The turbine delivery is planned for the second quarter of 2017, while commissioning is expected in the fourth quarter of 2017.

"Today’s orders cover six different sites across Bahía. Brazil was Vestas’ fifth largest market for order intake in 2015, and we have a strategic ambition to grow further there," said Marco Graziano, president of Vestas Mediterranean.

Vestas has been operational in Brazil since 2000 and announced 376 megawatts capacity in firm orders in 2015.
