Swedish wind farm developer Eolus announced Tuesday that it signed an agreement for the sale of Stigafellet, a 30-megawatt (MW) wind farm project in Norway consisting of seven wind turbines, with major Swiss energy services company ewz.
The preliminary purchase price for the wind farm located in the municipality of Bjerkreim south of Stavanger amounts to €40.7 million, according to the company's press release.
Eolus will build the wind farm, which is set for commissioning during the second half of 2020, and ewz will contribute funding during construction, the statement said.
As part of the deal, which comprises the sale of all shares in the project company that owns the rights to the wind farm, Eolus "has gained the confidence to deliver technical and administrative services to maximize output and production from the plant," the company said.
The wind farm is the first wind farm Eolus will complete in Norway, it noted.
Eolus Deputy CEO and Operations Manager Marcus Landelin said the deal with ewz gave Eolus the confidence to manage the operation and management of the plant.
"We see it as a strengthening message for our operations and management services," he added.
Eolus Vind is one of the leading developers of wind power plants in the Nordic region, having participated in the construction of more than 500 of the approximately 3,400 wind turbines currently in Sweden, according to the statement.
In total, Eolus' operating organization manages approximately 350 MW of wind power, it said.
Ewz invests heavily in the expansion and promotion of new renewable energies for safe and ecological power supply. The company also offers innovative telecom and network services as well as energy contracting.
