Siemens Gamesa secures 176.8 MW order from India

- Company will supply, erect and commission 86 wind turbines for two projects by ReNew Power

Siemens Gamesa secured orders from India's ReNew Power for the construction of two wind farms with a total capacity of 176.8 megawatts (MW), the company announced Wednesday.

One of the farms has a 100.8 MW capacity and is located in the Kutch district in the state of Gujarat, while the other 76 MW wind farm is in the Osmanabad district, Maharashtra, according to a statement from the German wind giant.

As part of the turnkey contract, Siemens Gamesa will provide the infrastructure needed to install and operate the facilities including supply, erection and commissioning of 48 units of SG 2.1-122 wind turbines in Gujarat and 38 units of SG 2.0-114 wind turbines in Maharashtra, respectively.

Commenting on the agreements, Balram Mehta, president of Wind at ReNew Power said: 'Siemens Gamesa's quality EPC [Engineering, Procurement, Construction] and execution capability has helped strengthen our portfolio of wind assets. Our association with them is now over 1 gigawatts (GW) which includes operational and under construction assets and we are pleased to have them as a valuable partner in our growth story.'

According to the statement, Siemens Gamesa has been present in India since 2009 with an accumulated base installed recently topping the 5.5 GW mark.
