PNE has 93 MW of wind capacity under construction in EU

- German group says projects with planned nominal capacity of 93.2 MW are currently being built in Germany, Sweden and France

German energy provider PNE AG said 93.2 megawatts (MW) of wind capacity were currently under construction in Germany, Sweden and France.

According to a press release issued by the Cuxhaven-based company on Tuesday, wind farm projects with a total capacity of 142.5 MW were put into operation or the rights to them were sold in Europe in 2018, bringing the total capacity of operational farms and those under construction across several EU markets up to 235.7 MW.

The rights to six wind farm projects in France, Poland and Italy with a total nominal capacity of 97.5 MW were sold in 2018, PNE said, adding the projects sold would be managed by PNE Group companies during the construction phase on behalf of the purchasers.

'The international project development markets are thus becoming increasingly important for PNE AG alongside the German market,' the statement read.

Markus Lesser, CEO of PNE AG, said this was a 'pleasing development'.

'In spite of the sometimes difficult framework conditions in individual markets, our operating business of project planning of wind farms has developed very positively. We have also firmly established ourselves in the international markets.

'This and our very extensive portfolio of projects under development are the solid basis on which we can continue our strategic further development to become a clean energy solution provider,' he said.

According to the company’s website, since 1990, more than 200 onshore wind farms with a total rated output of more than 2,600 MW have been successfully completed by the PNE Group in Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Poland and the U.S.
