German wind farm developer WKN, part of PNE AG (formerly PNE Wind) has delivered two operational wind farms in France with a total capacity of 31.85 megawatts (MW) to London-based investor and new owner, John Laing Group Plc., the Husum-based company announced Wednesday.
'The wind farm Sommette-Eaucourt in Picardy in northern France consists of nine wind turbines of the Nordex N117 series. Each turbine was constructed with a nominal output of 2.4 MW at a hub height of 91 meters,' a press release read.
The expected annual electricity production from the 21.6 MW wind farm is around 63 gigawatt hours (GW), the statement said, adding since starting operations in December 2017, the wind farm developed by WKN had supplied power to around 21,000 households.
Saint Martin l'Ars, the second project, is located in the Poitou Charentes region in western France and has a total output of 10.25 MW. The farm consists of five turbines of the Senvion MM92 series, each with an output of 2.05 MW at a hub height of 100 meters.
Its expected annual electricity production is around 24 GW. 'Having just started operation, the wind farm is now supplying around 8,000 French households,' the statement said.
Gabriel J. Meurer, chief financial officer of WKN AG, said the handing over of the two farms 'proved once more that WKN is a competent and reliable partner for all aspects of the value creation chain, from project planning to turnkey delivery'.
Markus Lesser, CEO of PNE AG, added the further development of the group's international business was an essential component of their 'ScaleUp' growth strategy.
'France is an important strategic market for us, in which we have recently been able to expand our project pipeline. Now, another successful completion of two French projects demonstrates that our international strategy is working,' Lesser said.
John Laing is an international originator, active investor and manager of infrastructure projects. Its business is focused on major transport, social and environmental infrastructure projects awarded under governmental public-private partnership programs, and renewable energy projects, across a range of international markets including the U.K., Europe, Asia Pacific and North America.
