- German company receives orders for wind turbines amounting to more than 4.7 gigawatts

The German Nordex Group saw a 73 percent year-on-year increase in wind turbine orders in 2018 amounting to more than 4.75 gigawatts (GW), the company announced Tuesday.

According to Nordex' statement, in the fourth quarter of 2018 alone, Nordex customers ordered wind turbines totaling 1,679 megawatts, out of which the newly launched N149/4.0-4.5 turbine from the Delta4000 series accounted for approximately 40 percent.

'For instance, in the case of the large Swedish project Nysater, 104 turbines of this type – as well as other models - are to be used. Further N149 turbines were sold to Finland, Turkey and Germany,' it said.

In addition to this, the Nordex Group received its first large-scale order in India for 100 of the new AW140/3000 turbines.

According to the press release, the German company received orders for 1,423 turbines last year, with European customers placing the largest volume of 2,145 MW (45.1 percent). Latin America ranked second with orders of 1,190 MW (25 percent) followed by North America with 721 MW (15.1 percent), and 699 MW, or 14.7 percent, came for the rest of the world.

The U.S., Brazil and Sweden were the strongest individual markets for the Nordex Group, it added.

The Group has so far installed more than 23 GW of wind energy capacity in over 25 markets and generated revenues of €3.1 billion in 2017.
