MHI Vestas installs final turbine at Horns Reef 3

- Vattenfall's 406-megawatt offshore wind park in Denmark now featuring 49 V164-8.3 MW turbines, 'most powerful' in country

MHI Vestas Offshore Wind installed the 49th and final V164-8.3 MW turbine at Swedish Vattenfall's 406-megawatt Horns Reef 3 offshore wind park project in Denmark, the Danish-Japanese joint venture announced Monday.

"The project, the fourth for MHI Vestas in the country, marks a special milestone as it is the first to feature the V164 platform, advancing the company's experience in Danish waters," read the statement issued by the equally-owned JV between Vestas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

According to the statement, the safe installation of all 8.3 MW turbines, which are the most powerful turbines operating in Denmark, was the result of a strong collaboration with partners A2Sea and Fred Olsen Windcarrier. The first turbine was installed last July.

Located 20 kilometers off the Danish coast, Horns Reef 3 will produce enough clean energy to power 425,000 Danish households when fully commissioned.
