ExxonMobil posts $16 billion earnings for 2015

- Cash flow from operations and asset sales totaled $32.7 billion last year

The U.S.-based global energy giant ExxonMobil had $16.2 billion in earnings last year, according to its 2015 Financial and Operating Summary on Tuesday.

While over $7 billion of that was generated from upstream projects, $6.5 billion came from downstream and $4.4 billion came from chemical operations of the company.

ExxonMobil said cash flow from operations and asset sales totaled $32.7 billion in 2015.

The company distributed $15.1 billion to its shareholders last year, and noted "dividends per share increased 5.8 percent in the second quarter of 2015, the 33rd consecutive year of dividend-per-share increases."

While the company had $31.1 billion for capital and exploration expenditures last year, its added around one billion oil-equivalent barrels of proved oil and natural gas reserves to its portfolio.

ExxonMobil said that it completed six major upstream projects in 2015, of which the company's working interest production capacity is almost 300,000 oil-equivalent barrels per day.
