Türkiye's natural gas imports increased by 36.8% in June, compared to the same month in 2024, according to data from Türkiye's energy watchdog on Wednesday.
Natural gas imports in June totaled 3.16 billion cubic meters (bcm), up from approximately 2.31 bcm last year, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
In June, 2.79 bcm of imports were made through pipelines and 377 million cubic meters (mcm) were imported via liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The highest volume of pipeline gas imports came from Azerbaijan, totaling 1.02 bcm meters. This was followed by 970 mcm from Russia, 697 mcm from Iran and 103 mcm from Turkmenistan.
During this period, LNG imports amounted to 277 mcm from Algeria and 99 mcm from the US.
- Gas consumption down 0.6%
The country's total gas consumption decreased to 2.70 bcm in June, down by 0.6% compared to the same period in June 2024.
Household consumption rose by 8.5% to 516 mcm, while gas consumption in the industrial sector rose by 8.3% to 987 mcm.
In power plants, natural gas consumption decreased by 16.3% to 674 mcm, during the same period.
The natural gas storage volume in June increased by 9.3% to around 3.76 bcm, compared to 3.44 bcm last year.
