Turkey's use of alternative clean fuel in the form of liquefied petroleum gas, LPG, in the car industry, is a good example for other countries, according to Mustafa Yilmaz, head of Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority on Monday.
According to Yilmaz, LPG meets more than 4 percent of Turkey's energy needs. He stated that Turkey consumes around 3.7 million tonnes of LPG per year making the country an important LPG market.
"In Turkey we have 4.2 million cars which run on LPG. After South Korea we are the second biggest user of LPG cars in the world," he said.
"Thanks to LPG cars, Turkey's carbon emissions have decreased by 1.2 million tonnes," he said regarding the car industry which has seen a huge increase over the past few years.
He added that the LPG market has created substantial employment opportunities with more than 10 thousand stations and 8 thousand bottled gas sub-dealers.
