Syria to begin gas production in Saddad field

-Syrian government will start natural gas production in Saddad field

Syria will commence natural gas production in the Saddad gas field near Homs province in central Syria, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Wednesday.

“The well No.7 in Saddad gas field, 60 kilometers southeast of the city of Homs, will be put into service during the next 24 hours with a total production capacity of 500 thousand cubic meters of gas per day,” announced Suleiman al-Abbas, minister of petroleum and mineral resources, during his visit to the Saddad gas field.

The state-owned Syrian Petroleum Company and the Syrian Gas Company operate the Saddad natural gas field.

The Syrian government will use natural gas for electricity generation.

“The move will boost the quantities of gas delivered to the energy stations, and will contribute towards compensating for production shortages as armed terrorist organizations seized a number of production sites in Deir Ezzor, Hasaka and Palmyra,” al-Abbas said.
