Norwegian offshore service provider Aker Solutions won a contract for maintenance and modification services for three platforms at Petrobras-operated oil and gas fields offshore Brazil, the company announced on Thursday.
The four-year deal is valued at about $100 million with an option for a one-year extension, according to the company’s statement.
In accordance with the contract, the company will provide a range of services, such as renovation, repair and upgrade the floating production storage and offloading platforms at the Barracuda, Caratinga and Albacora Leste fields in the Campos Basin, a sedimentary basin off the Brazilian coast.
The work will start in March, while final deliveries are planned for the first quarter of 2022.
'Brazil is an important global market and growth area for servicing oil and gas fields,' said Aker Solutions Chief Executive Officer Luis Araujo who added that 'the company looks forward to helping Petrobras optimize and extend the life of these assets.'
Petrobras, which produces about 2.8 million barrels of oil equivalent a day, is an integrated energy company with a focus on oil and gas operations mainly in Brazil, while Aker Solutions is a global provider of products, systems and services to the oil and gas industry.
