Turkey's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) imports increased 12.2% to 202,956 tonnes in May compared to the same month of 2020, according to the latest data from the country's energy watchdog.
The Energy Market Regulatory Authority's (EMRA) data showed that Turkey's imports came from the US, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Greece, the UAE, Norway and Switzerland.
Turkey's LPG production in May rose to 87,154 tonnes, marking a year-on-year jump of 29.8%.
The increase in LPG imports and production in May this year compared to May last year reflects the slowdown after the first reported coronavirus case in Turkey in March last year when the country announced a country-wide lockdown which slowed down economic activity.
Exports also rose to 22,014 tonnes this May from 438 tonnes in May last year.
Total LPG sales in May increased by 7.3% to around 271,521 tonnes, comprising 204,019 tonnes of autogas, 61,165 tonnes of bottled LPG, and 6,336 tonnes of bulk LPG.
