Wall Street falls 2 percent amid trade war fears

- Dow falls 572 points and posts a weekly decline of 0.7 percent

Indexes in the U.S. stock market fell more than 2 percent to end Friday on a lower note as fears has been growing over a trade war between the U.S. and China.

The Dow Jones fell 572 points, or 2.3 percent, to close the day at 23,932 points. The S&P 500 lost 58 points, or 2.2 percent, to finish trading at 2,604 points.

The Nasdaq decreased 161 points, or 2.3 percent, to end the day at 6,915 points.

This week, the Dow lost 0.7 percent, the S&P was down 1.4 percent, and the Nasdaq posted a decline of 2.1 percent.

President Donald Trump on Thursday ordered the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to consider imposing $100 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese products in a move likely to add fuel to an already heated trade dispute.
