U.S. President Donald Trump's administration has proposed $188.8 million for the 2021 fiscal year budget to develop and manage offshore energy, according to a recent statement from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).
The budget includes offshore oil and natural gas exploration and leasing, offshore renewable energy development, marine minerals management and science-based analyses.
“President Trump’s 2021 budget request for the Department is about investing in our people and public lands and waters,' Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt said in a statement on Monday.
'He is committed to the mission of conservation and creating more public access for Americans to fully enjoy our national treasures and landscapes,' he added.
The budget for 2021 fiscal year includes approximately $60.5 million to advance oil and gas energy activities and $26.5 million to advance offshore renewable energy development.
While $8.8 million is assigned for BOEM’s marine minerals program, $75.9 million is for BOEM’s environmental programs.
