Türkiye hits annual production record from hydroelectric power plants

- Hydroelectric power plants account for 41.1% of daily electricity output

Daily energy output from hydroelectric power plants in Türkiye hit a record high of 294,617 megawatt-hours on Sunday, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency from the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS).

The data revealed that 716,616 megawatt-hours of electricity were produced in Türkiye, with hydroelectric power plants accounting for 41.1% of the generation. Sunday's consumption totaled 719,328 megawatt-hours.

The highest consumption of 33,473 megawatt-hours was seen at 9 p.m. local time (0600 GMT), while the lowest consumption of 24,753 megawatt-hours was made at 8 a.m. local time (0500 GMT).

Hydroelectric power plants with dams accounted for 26.6% of daily production, while run-of-river hydroelectric power plants accounted for 14.5%.

Generation from imported coal power plants followed hydroelectric power with a 14.3% share.

Another record high was made this year to date with hydroelectric plants generating 294,617 megawatt-hours.
