US oil rig count up by 8 for week ending May 14

- Number of US oil rigs rise by 60 compared to one year ago

The oil rig count in the US rose this week, according to the latest data released by oilfield services company Baker Hughes on Friday.

The number of oil rigs, an indicator of short-term production in the country, increased by 8 to 352 for the week ending May 14 from 344 the previous week.

The number of US oil rigs also rose by 60 compared to one year ago.

At Friday's trading close, the price of international benchmark Brent crude stood at $68.63 per barrel, while American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $65.49 a barrel.
