US oil rig count up by 12 for week ending Oct. 15

- Number of US oil rigs rise by 240 compared to one year ago

The oil rig count in the US increases this week, according to the latest data released by oilfield services company Baker Hughes on Friday.

The number of oil rigs, an indicator of short-term production in the country, increased by 12 to 445 for the week ending Oct. 15 from 433 the previous week.

The number of US oil rigs rose by 240 compared to one year ago.

At Friday's trading close, the price of international benchmark Brent crude stood at $84.84 per barrel, while American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $82.53 a barrel.
