Türkiye's licensed power generation up 1.1% in Dec. 2025

- Electricity production rises to around 30.24 million megawatt-hours

Türkiye's electricity production increased by around 1.1% in December 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, data from the country's energy watchdog showed on Friday.

Total electricity production rose to around 30.24 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in December, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its electricity market report.

The country produced electricity from several sources, including 30.7% from natural gas, 23.8% from imported coal, 13.2% from hydropower, 12.3% from lignite and 10.3% from wind.

Geothermal, biomass, solar power, hard coal, asphaltite, and fuel oil generated the remaining share.

Electricity consumption in December 2025 increased to around 24.18 million MWh, marking a 3.4% rise compared to the same month the previous year.

Installed electricity capacity rose by around 1.9% to 99,219 megawatts in Nov. 2025, relative to Dec. 2024.

Hydropower and natural gas power plants comprised 24% of electricity installed capacity, while wind plants accounted for 14.7%, imported coal plants accounted for 10.5%, and lignite plants accounted for 10.3%.

Run-of-river hydroelectricity, solar power, biomass, geothermal, hard coal, asphaltite, and fuel oil also contributed to the installed capacity.
