Türkiye's daily power consumption down 12.7% on Jan. 1

- Electricity exports amount to 11,778 megawatt-hours and imports total 2,140 megawatt-hours

Daily electricity consumption in Türkiye decreased by around 12.7% on Thursday compared to the previous day, totaling 868,571 megawatt-hours, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) released on Friday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 43,116 megawatt-hours at 7 p.m. local time (1600 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 28,960 megawatt-hours at 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT).

Electricity production amounted to 879,476 megawatt-hours on Thursday, marking a decrease of 13% compared to Wednesday.

Electricity production from imported coal plants accounted for around 27% of total generation, while natural gas and lignite contributed 24.1% and 12.2%, respectively.

On Thursday, the country's electricity exports totaled 11,778 megawatt-hours, while imports amounted to 2,140 megawatt-hours.
