Polish Swinoujscie LNG Terminal receives its 50th cargo

- Over 4,000 tank trucks have been loaded at terminal since December 2015

Poland's Swinoujscie LNG Terminal, located in the northwest of the country, marked the arrival of the 50th LNG vessel since its first delivery in December 2015, Polskie LNG Company announced late on Sunday.

According to the statement, over 4,000 tank trucks have been loaded at the terminal with the delivery of 9.6 million cubic meters of LNG to date.

The latest 50th cargo registered a volume of 130,000 cubic meters.

Under the LNG Terminal Expansion Program, Polskie LNG is implementing a set of environmental and location plans while two tender procedures are also in progress, the statement said.

The first procedure for the onshore expansion program announced in December 2018 involves the selection of a contractor for three key components:

  1. Additional regasification installation to raise the nominal regasification capacity of the terminal to 7.5 billion cubic meters per year.
  2. A third LNG process storage tank to increase the operational flexibility of the LNG terminal installation while ensuring optimum natural gas process storage capacity.
  3. LNG-to-Rail transshipment installation to extend the range of services provided with the possibility of natural gas transshipment onto intermodal containers and rail tankers in order to reach new prospective customers.

The tender process includes the sign-off of a contract with a selected contractor by the end of 2019, while setting a target capacity of 7.5 billion cubic meters per year by 2021.

Two other projects are scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2023.

Polish Gas and Oil Company PGNiG established Polskie LNG in 2007, and in accordance with a resolution of the Council of Ministers on Aug. 19, 2008, gas transmission operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. became the owner of Polskie LNG.

On Dec. 8, 2008, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A acquired 100 percent of the shares of Polskie LNG and on Jan. 1, 2010, Polskie LNG was transformed into a public limited company.
