Tech firm Lenovo said that more than 90% of the electricity used across its global operations now comes from renewable sources, as it reported progress on its environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets and announced a new set of long-term sustainability aspirations.
The milestone was achieved through a combination of on-site renewable energy generation, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and renewable energy certificates (RECs), the Hong Kong-based company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Lenovo also said it remains on track to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 under targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The company's FY2025-26 ESG Report highlighted progress in climate action, the circular economy, social impact, and corporate governance. It also outlined new sustainability aspirations aimed at advancing responsible innovation as artificial intelligence becomes more widely adopted.
“This fiscal year represents an important moment for Lenovo,” shared Dave Carroll, Lenovo’s Chief Legal and Corporate Responsibility Officer.
“As we near the end of our first generation of ESG goals, we are proud of the progress we’ve made-but even more focused on applying what we’ve learned to accelerate future impact,” Carroll added.
“Our work is closely aligned with the needs of our customers and partners as we navigate environmental challenges, geopolitical complexity, and the rapid evolution of AI,” he said.
