Hydro provides majority of Norway's power in January

- Norway produces 15.63 terawatt-hours of electricity in January

Hydropower produced 87.8% of Norway's electricity in January, equivalent to 13.72 terawatt-hours (TWh), according to Statistics Norway (SSB) on Thursday.

In addition to hydropower, the country produced 10.9% of its electricity from wind power and 1.3% from thermal power.

The country's total electricity production amounted to 15.63 TWh in January.

The largest share of consumption was use for the extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas, and power-intensive manufacturing.

The Nordic country's electricity consumption increased by 11.6% in January, compared to the same period last year.
