Russian energy company Gazprom warned that Germany will not be able to benefit from the second line of the halted Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project before 2028.
The project initially planned to transport 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Yamal gas fields in Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea.
In a written Gazprom statement, the company confirmed the re-commissioning of the second line of the Nord Stream 2 would not be possible before 2028.
'If Germany decides to put Nord Stream 2 into operation, only one line of the project will be used at 100% capacity,' the company said.
On Feb. 23, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called for the suspension of certification of the $11 billion project, with maintenance halted due to sanctions.
