Eight liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes are due to arrive at Turkiye's gas LNG terminals by March 6 from the US, Equatorial Guinea and Algeria, according to Anadolu Agency’s projections from international shipping data.
Turkiye, as part of its plan to avoid supply problems, is purchasing more LNG to keep its natural gas storage fully stocked.
The eight cargoes are due to reach the country’s Floating LNG Storage and Gasification Units (FSRUs) in Hatay Dortyol, Aliaga LNG Terminal and Marmara Ereglisi LNG Terminal within 10 days.
LNG tankers, Maran Gas Pericles, Methane Princess, Elisa Larus, SK Resolute and Gaslog Hong Kong are in transit from the US. The estimated journey from the US averages 18 days to destinations in Turkiye but takes 14 days from Equatorial Guinea and only five days from Algeria.
The Gui Ying ship from Equatorial Guinea, Ougarta and Lalla Fatma N'Soumer from Algeria have also set off for the terminals in Turkiye. The ships are due to arrive between Feb. 25 and March 6.
The gas in a liquid form stored on LNG tankers arriving in Turkiye will be converted to natural gas that can be transmitted via pipeline for distribution to both the industrial sector and households.
Ship tracking data has revealed the arrival in Turkiye from Texas of the Mol Hestia LNG vessel, with a total capacity of 170,799 cubic meters, on Feb. 22.
