- She succeeds Giles Dickson, who led WindEurope for a decade

WindEurope has appointed former Belgian Energy Minister Tinne Van der Straeten as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective Feb. 2, 2026, the organization said on Monday.

Van der Straeten served as Belgium's energy minister from 2020 to 2025, overseeing the country's wind power expansion and helping lead a broad political response to the 2022 energy crisis.

She has also played a key role in European energy cooperation, including chairing the North Sea Energy Cooperation and the European Energy Council.

In a statement, Van der Straeten said wind energy is central to Europe's energy security, industrial competitiveness and climate goals.

The WindEurope board thanked outgoing CEO Giles Dickson for his decade of leadership and contributions to Europe's wind energy sector.
