US stock market opens lower with tech losses

- Facebook shares down 4.7 percent

The U.S. stock market opened lower Monday with losses in technology companies' shares.

The Dow Jones fell 119 points, or 0.5 percent, to begin trading at 24,826 points. The S&P 500 was down 14 points, or 0.5 percent, to 2,737 points.

The Nasdaq decreased 67 points, or 0.9 percent, to start the first trading day of the week at 7,414 points.

At the first bell, Facebook shares were down 4.7 percent, while Google's parent company Alphabet saw its stock price decline 2.2 percent.

Markets and investors will closely watch the U.S. Federal Reserve's rate hike decision on Wednesday.
