Turkey’s energy import bill declines in 2014

- Turkey’s energy imports declined in 2014 compared to previous year.

Turkey’s energy imports declined by almost 2 percent in 2014 compared to previous year, Turkish statistical authority said on Friday.

Turkey’s energy imports stood at $54.9 billion last year, decreasing by $1 billion comparing to 2013, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute.

Turkey paid a total amount of $242.2 billion for its imports last year, almost one-fifth of which is for the energy imports. 

Over the last decade, Turkey’s energy exports stood at its lowest level at $21.2 billion in 2005, and highest in 2012 at $60.1 billion.

Turkey paid a total of $425.4 billion in last decade for its imports.
