The German Federal Network Agency announced Tuesday that the country would start its third offshore wind auction later this year, according to local media reports.
The total installed capacity of the auction is expected to be 670.16 megawatts (MW), the reports said, adding the bid price cap was planned to be 0.063 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The deadline for bids is Aug. 1.
According to the Global Wind Energy Council, the total offshore capacity of the world was around 18,814 MW in 2017 with Germany holding 5,355 GW of installed capacity.
The country ranked second after U.K. which had 6,836 MW of installed offshore wind capacity.
