Russian energy giant Gazprom's profit for 2018 amounted to 1 trillion 456 billion rubles ($22.5 billion), 104% more than in 2017, the company announced on Monday.
Last year's total sales increased year-on-year by 26% to 8.2 trillion rubles, while net gas sales rose by 29%, reaching 4.303 billion rubles for 2018, the company said.
'This was mainly due to an increase in average prices in the [gas] segment in Europe and other countries,' it said.
Gazprom meets around 30 percent of Europe's gas needs.
The company attained a profit of 714.3 billion rubles in 2017.
