Eni boosts investments in Australian solar projects

-Eni's new solar projects in Australia to supply clean energy to over 5,000 homes each year

Eni Australia Limited finalized the acquisition of two construction-ready 12.5 megawatts (MW) solar projects in Batchelor and Manton Dam, in the Northern Territory of Australia, the company announced in a statement Thursday.

The projects will cover the installation of two 12.5 MW ground-mounted PV panels, which will be completed by the third quarter of 2020.

State-owned Jacana Energy will purchase 100% of the new plants’ output.

The solar projects will supply clean energy to over 5,000 homes each year and will create local jobs and opportunities for local communities.

The projects will also contribute to providing 50% of energy generation from renewable sources by 2030.

This initiative, together with a previously announced 33.7 MW Katherine solar farm, which is currently under construction, will increase Eni’s renewable energy investment in the Australian market.

Eni has been present in Australia through its subsidiary Eni Australia Ltd. since 2000.
