Zohr gas field's total investments reach $10.6 billion

- The 13th well at Zohr field will be ready for production in October: Egypt Oil & Gas

More money has been pumped into Egypt's offshore giant Zohr gas field with investments totaling $10.6 billion after its production level reached 2.7 billion cubic feet per day, Egypt-based oil and gas information provider, Egypt Oil & Gas reported on Wednesday.

To further enhance productivity, the 13th well at the Zohr field will be ready for production in October, while the 14th well will be ready for production before the end of the year, bringing total production to more than 3 billion cubic feet of gas per day, Egypt Oil & Gas announced.

PetroShorouk Petroleum Company, jointly owned by Eni and the state company Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), completed the drilling of seven wells over 2018 and in 2019, bringing the total number of production-ready wells at Zohr to 12.

'The construction of an onshore planned plant was completed eight months ahead of schedule. The fifth, sixth and seventh production units began operating in February, March and April 2019, bringing the total capacity of the land treatment plant to 3.2 billion cubic feet per day,' Chairman of Petro Shorouk Petroleum Company, and Belayim Petroleum Company (Petrobel) Atef Hassan said.

He added that total gas production from all fields of Petrobel, which include those in Sinai, the Nile Delta and the Mediterranean, exceeded 4 billion cubic feet per day to reach an average production of 805,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, a record never previously reached for oil sector companies.

He detailed that the reason behind achieving such an exceptional production rate is with the operation of the second glycol injection pump with an eight-inch diameter, and the second 215 kilometer-long offshore production line with a 30-inch diameter in August 2019, in addition to developing the marine control platform to utilize the second electro-hydraulic cable with a length of 160 kilometers.
