Turkey’s energy import bill falls by 40 pct in 1Q16

- Turkey’s energy imports declined by 40.6 percent in the first quarter of 2016 compared to previous year

Turkey’s energy imports declined by 40.6 percent in the first three months of 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, Turkey's statistical authority said on Saturday.

Turkey paid $10.9 billion for energy imports in the first quarter of 2015.

The country's energy imports stood at $6.4 billion between January-March 2016, a decrease of around $4.5 billion compared to the same period of 2015, when energy imports stood at $10.9 billion, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute.

Turkey paid a total amount of $46.7 billion for all imports in the first quarter of 2016, and paid $463.4 billion in total for imports over the last 11 years.
