P5+1 to hold nuke talks in Vienna pre June 30 deadline

The delegation of China, France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia will hold several meetings in Vienna's Palais Coburg hotel to discuss Iran's nuclear energy program prior to the June 30 deadline, according to Sputnik news agency Wednesday.

The delegation already met on Wednesday for a round of talks, and more meetings will take place including a plenary meeting with Iran's participation along with other discussions without Iran's presence.

Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, expects that sanctions will be removed immediately "on the very first day" of reaching a nuclear deal. However, the U.S. remains reluctant, earlier signaling repeatedly that the sanctions would be removed gradually.

The sides also disagree about whether to extend the deadline of the agreement, which was postponed twice during previous negotiations at the end of March.

However, the U.S. State Department Spokesman, Jeff Rathke, said in May that "P5+1 countries are committed to meet the deadline this time."
