Nord Stream-2 can be completed in 4-5 weeks: Official

- 'We have time until the end of December, so we won't rush,' says Gazprom chair

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project could be completed within four to five weeks, according to the chairman of majority shareholder, Gazprom, on Wednesday.

Viktor Zubkov, in his statement to reporters during Russian Energy Week in Moscow, said the earlier than anticipated completion is possible, however, he added that they will not rush as the company has sufficient time until the end of December - the scheduled finish date.

He added that should Denmark not agree to allow the project to pass through its territory, construction would continue through neutral waters.

The Nord Stream 2 project, whose total cost is expected to be around €10 billion, will see the transfer of 55 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to Germany via the Baltic Sea.
