Türkiye's electricity production increased by around 3.7% in November 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, the latest data from the country's energy watchdog showed on Wednesday.
Total electricity production rose to around 24.84 million megawatt-hours (MWh) in November 2023, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced in its electricity market report for November 2023.
The country produced electricity from several sources: 26.8% from imported coal, 18.9% from natural gas, 16.8% from hydroelectricity, 13.9% from lignite and 13.3% from wind.
Geothermal, biomass, hard coal, solar power, asphaltite, and fuel oil generated the remaining share.
Electricity consumption in November 2023 also increased to around 20.16 million MWh, marking a 5.53% rise compared to the same month the previous year.
Installed electricity capacity rose by around 0.87% to 95,821 megawatts in November 2023, relative to November 2022.
Natural gas power plants comprised 26.3% of electricity installed capacity, while hydropower and wind plants accounted for 24.3% and 12.1%, respectively.
Lignite, imported coal, hydropower, biomass, geothermal, solar power, hard coal, asphaltite, fuel oil, naphtha, LNG and diesel also contributed to the installed capacity.
